In recent months, Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN has been synonymous with negative headlines. Contrary to the stories of destruction and unrest, are many vibrant and thriving small businesses that occupy the Uptown Minneapolis community. Even after the challenging 2020 we have had so far, business owners and their employees beam with pride when discussing their roots and how they continue to serve the neighborhood they hold so dear.
Located at the heart of Lake Street Minneapolis, MN's business is Lake Wine & Spirits. Owner Binh Le and his wife Christina wanted to create a space with an atmosphere of welcoming, fun, and great synergy for shoppers. Binh actually went door to door in the neighborhood to propose his business plan and get approval from the community. They wanted to share their passions of bringing people, food, wine, and cheese together to celebrate life and living. I think they did just that.
When you walk through the doors you are greeted by friendly smiles and the invitation to choose any 6 bottles from a wall of wine selections for only $36. Sign me up!
When you look above the rows of wine you are drawn to the amazing light installations made from wine glasses.
To the left you will likely find Jim, ready to tell you about his favorite cheese selections and give you a history of their origins and how they got their name. He may even set up a tasting for you if you have the time to indulge. Trust me, it's worth it!
Behind the counter full of cheese is the sandwich board with the most delicious selection of hot and cold sandwiches you can take to go. "The Sean", named after a long-time employee is filled with ham, soppressata, provolone, tomato, onion, arugula, house-made burnt vinaigrette on a ciabatta bun. Yum.
Binh Le and his wife Christina own what one employee called "the jewel of Lake Street", Lake Wine & Spirits.
One thing is for certain, everyone I spoke to is happy to be here. It's like a family. Just like with any family there are good times and bad times. The protests in May brought damage and mayhem to this beloved space.
"The protests were wild! Our shop was looted and broken into six times in a six week span. Our amazing staff was fearless, determined, stepped up, and continued to operate business as usual" Binh Le, Owner.
That's what family does, they go on. We are so happy to partner with such a staple in Minneapolis and the Lake Street, Minneapolis, MN Business community. These businesses have been put to the test this year and are still standing. We stand with you. We are here for you Minnesota.
